Casanova the cat seeks owner

Pet insurance policyholders whose worst nightmare is their cat or dog going missing might sympathise with recent events in Saltcoats.

A cat was found in a carrier outside a supermarket and handed in to a local pet store, before being looked after at the Ayrshire and South West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Ayr.

His owner, who is thought to have either abandoned or accidentally left the feline on the street, is being sought.

But because of the one-year-old cat's gorgeous features, he has been renamed Casanova for the time being.

"He's attracted a lot of interest in the short time he's been in our care," said Scottish SPCA ambulance driver Jean MacKay.

"If we don't trace his owner we already have someone willing to offer him a loving, permanent home."

Casanova's appeal comes weeks after a young cat was found dumped in the woods in Alloa. She was discovered by a schoolboy on his way home.
