Blessed: Cats "constantly amaze their owners"

An actor is calling for the support of an awards ceremony for rescue pets, in news which may interest any feline fan mulling over their choice of cat health insurance.

Brian Blessed says that all fans of pet health care should turn their attention to the Cats Protection's Rescue Cat Awards 2010, designed to highlight the work of rescue organisations.

The accolades will be awarded to any rescue feline - past or present - so anybody who knows a kitty worthy of such a prize can nominate their furry friend.

Blessed is an animal lover and was a judge at the same awards ceremony in 2008.

"As a proud owner of rescue cats down the years, I know what adorable creatures they are and how they constantly amaze their owners," he said, adding that moggies can bring "sheer wonder" to their companion's life.

The Scottish SPCA recently began running a television campaign to highlight the work they have been doing.
