Buying a Doberman Pinscher

The Doberman - Centre of the Family
Many people rush out to buy a Doberman and do not take the time to research the breed or its specific needs. The sad result is that many of these noble, handsome dogs end up in rescue homes often labeled as aggressive due to their owner's lack of understanding of the breed.
They have long been a popular breed as a working dog in the security industry. This has spilled over into domestic use and led to them being exploited for financial gain. Unfortunately this type of 'backyard breeding' where there is only commercial gain as an interest by maverick breeders who have no knowledge of the Doberman has led to bad breeding practices ending in unstable personalities and severe health problems. As a Doberman owner you will be embarking upon a one to twelve year relationship where you will be responsible for their training, well-being and health.
The dogs are athletic, loving, protective, loyal, graceful and intelligent. Unlike other guarding breeds the Doberman demands attention from you. Dobe's do not fit into a person's life. You fit into theirs!
They will demand to be at the centre of your family. They form extremely strong bonds with the family and will not thrive shut outside in a kennel or away from the family. They will require consistent training along with masses of love and affection and attention. Along with regular visits to the vet make sure you have a good pet insurance to cover against accidents and illness.
