Animal Friends’ Great Day Out
Yesterday, we here at Animal Friends very excitedly made our way down to the Salisbury Dog’s Trust Open Day where we were sponsoring the attempt at breaking the world record for the largest simultaneous dog stay/sit. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t quite as nice as hoped and so the record of 627 was not broken. The attempt was still a terrific effort though with 463 owners and their dogs managing to complete the two-minute ‘sitting’ required for the attempt to count.
The record attempt aside, the day was a great success with lots of activities going on throughout the course of the day such as various judging events, a raffle, pony rides and even a tug-of-war competition. Animal Friends entered the competition and despite our valiant efforts proceeded to lose every bout ending with a score of 0-4.

Thankfully, we weren’t at the event to display our strength in physical terms, rather to display our support for the Dog’s Trust in all the wonderful work that they do in rehoming dogs to loving families. We were also there to promote our own ‘Feel Good Ethos’ and interact and inform the general public about our goals in supporting animal welfare charities and insuring pets. This was an excellent success, with our Animal Friends stall attracting a lot of curious dog owners enabling us to share our ‘Feel Good’ message with like-minded people; not to mention the dog food we were offering was a hit with the pups.

Leslie Gold, the Supporter Relations Officer for The Salisbury Dog’s trust, had these kind words to say:
“Thanks go to all the Animal Friends team for helping to make the Dogs Trust Open Day and particularly the Guinness World Record attempt Super Stay so much fun! We’re very grateful to Animal Friends for sponsoring the record attempt, and although we didn’t break the world record, it really did highlight the wonderful bond between dog and human.”
Animal Friends are thoroughly happy to have been actively involved in what was a superb day out for all the family. It was extremely enjoyable to meet people who are as enthusiastic about animal welfare charity support as we are and we hope everyone had lots of fun; we know we certainly did!
